The Science-y One
Tina has always been “the sciency one.” From electricity to fermentation to pond scum, by 8 years old she was playing with all of it. She’s been an ND focused in oncology for over 20 years. The Cancer Pod is her outlet to teach, engage and help a limitless number of people.
The Cancer Insider
Leah’s dream job as a naturopathic doctor was to work at an integrative cancer center. She never figured she would also become a patient. She’s the #cancerinsider of The Cancer Pod, offering her insight on the podcast as both patient and doctor.
Dr. Sherman graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine (now the National University of Natural Medicine) in 2007, then completed two years of a naturopathic family medicine residency at the clinics affiliated with the college. She then went on to complete a two-year naturopathic oncology residency at the Goshen Center for Cancer Care in Goshen, Indiana. Since completing her training, she has worked at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Arizona (now City of Hope) and at the Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
Dr. Sherman completed training in functional medicine through The Institute for Functional Medicine. She is a certified yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance, and has received additional training through yoga4cancer and Love Your Brain.
Her interests include cancer survivorship and the impact of the gut microbiome on health. When she's not nerding out researching for an upcoming episode, Leah can be found cooking gluten-free meals, hanging out with her corgi, gardening, and starting craft projects. She also likes traveling to Wisconsin to watch the Packers or relax at the family cabin.
